SPRING ANGEL

Filling the flowers with fragrant sweetness
The fresh gust of April smiles all  the way
Do come to my withering nights, please  some day
O my spring angel come and clear the murky gray
The mood is sad O friends, tell the breeze to sing
A song about her for whom my heart does cringe
How the tears give colour to my eyes' redness
Only my beloved can wash out the deep sadness
The tavern and the saqi do beckon me often
But it is in my loved one's arms I will find heaven
What good is love without the beloved beside
That special bosom is wherein I would like to hide
To shun the whole world and live just for her
Is what counts most in this loveless parlour.
In her garden flowers bloom and blossom for her
It's she who gives my garden its brightest
colour.
O sun! O moon! O you stars in the vast spread cosmos
Stand ye in awe for my darling's beauty is rapturous.
She isn't just a pretty face with a comely figure
She's intelligent, wise and full of graceful splendour.
She cares for me and loves me with rare selflessness
And for that even my love for her never effaces.
And when she says "You know Naveed!" in all innocence
I want to be with her and revel in her effervescence.
Yes, she's so, this rare beloved woman of mine
And it's her I crave and for her love I will pine.
So O Saba* do convey to her how miserable it is
And make her believe that it's her whom I truly miss.
