I MISS MUHAMMAD ALI

The world is the same yet not for me,
I miss my hero: Muhammad Ali.
The only true champion of the world,
Far better than Joe Louis or Rocky.
A man who did what he deemed right,
Who also disproved that might is right.
A human being to the core of his sole,
Inspiring millions -- such was his role.
As a boxer who won title after title,
In the ring he gave a show of his mettle.
Outside the ring he stood for the deprived,
Consoling babies that were hungry and cried.
Rescuing prisoners from Iraq and Iran,
He shone brighter than others of his clan.
Surmounting odds was the goal of his life,
Overcoming problems, struggles and strife.
A gem of creation he had poise and elan
That's why he is called the Black Superman.
Age overtook him and led to his demise,
And for me now the world is just lies.
Author's Notes/Comments:

In memory of legendary heavyweight boxing champion of the world Muhammad Ali. My mind went back to the two times I met him: in Pakistan in 1987 and in Dubai (UAE) in 1996.
