No Prayer for the Elderly

Is this an oversight? - or whatsoever,

Some folks  get gifts - but prayer  - never;

Assurances fly high across the site

In comments sweet, that sound aplomb and  right.

With prayer promises for such and such,

For  him or her and those that want it much,

“I pray for you dear friend,- I pray for you!

And all my family prays for you too".

So many praying for the Fortunate,

Encompassed by so large a family,

Ah could a crumb of all this prayer sate

The prayer hunger of some Elderly.

Assurances are given with each post,

But never for old friends that need it most,

Parbleu!-sacrë- it does not need much wit,

To catch on quickly and to notice it.

New friends indulge  in prayers’ blissful  shower,

Old friends may find their  space in London’s  Tower,

Assure  new friends of prayerful love and  zest,

For  prayer for NEW  friends is always best!

Should you dear friend need prayer earnestly,

And rouse the sympathy of poet peers,

You must be young , sing with suavity .

No prayers for the Elderly but “Cheers”

Is this what our faith is all about?

New friends get  prayer, - old friends are cut out.,

No mention ever made,  though e-mails fly,

Some even tell their truest friend   "Good-Bye!

Prayer is great, - so very high its cost,

But why not pray for friends that need it most?

Discarded for new friends - more glib and bold,

No prayer for a friend who's getting old,.
