Flying High.

Flying High.

The nights are getting longer autumn will soon be with us. Today I saw a flock of Geese flying high in formation on their way South. The Fairies and the butterflies will soon be leaving us to go to the deep caves under the Himalayan Mountains. To say I do not like wintertime would be an exaggeration, as all of the seasons of the year have their bright side. I looked up into the sky to see the Geese slowly disappearing. I wished that I could travel with them. Suddenly a strange feeling came over me I found myself sitting on the back of one of the Geese. I was now very small perched on the back of the Geese Leader. Looking behind me I saw the two lines of geese strung out in a vee formation. I was not afraid although I have this thing with heights especially when I have to climb a ladder to fix the odd slate on the roof of my house.

The Geese Leader turned its head and pictures flashed into my mind. We are flying South to North Africa soon we will be over the English Channel on our way down through France across the Straight of Gibraltar on to a spot in Morocco where we will spend the winter months. There is plenty to eat and we return to Great Britain in the early spring to raise a new family of Geese. If you stay with us you will remain as small as you are now. If any kind of danger threatens you, you will return to your normal size. Food and drink will be ready for you whenever you are thirsty or hungry. I myself will be keeping a watchful eye on you while you are with us. This trip is a present from Her Majesty Queen Feeanna she intercepted your wish to fly with us. I was agreeable. Enjoy your stay in Africa.

I had a wonderful observation post sitting comfortably on the back of the Goose Leader. The ships in the English Channel were small and each left a whitish wake behind it as they ploughed their way through the Channel. Next came the coastline of France in my view. Huge fields of flowers seemed to be greeting me as we flew overhead. The Lavender fields were in full bloom and the small people were hard at work harvesting. I was so high up that ordinary people looked like ants as they brought in the ripe Lavender crops. The Geese Leader gave a signal and the Geese rose higher and higher we were now flying over the Mountains of Southern France. Gibraltar came into view and the Mediterranean Sea was below us. On the geese flew all seemed to know where they were going. The next to appear was the coastline of North Africa. The Geese as if on a command flew lower and lower and a landing was made. I have never had such a soft-landing just a little spray of water from under the Geese Leaders legs showed me that we had landed on the lake. I sat on the gooses back watching as the Vee Formation came in to land. Such a precision one only sees when trained Soldiers are exercising.

My Goose paddled to the bank of the lake where we had landed. I jumped from the soft feathers on to the shore of the lake. I was not surprised as a Golden Goblet filled with Nectar appeared in front of me. Then a small tray with Fairy Cakes All supplied by the kindness of Her Majesty, Queen of all the Fairies. At nighttimes or better as the evenings drew to a close my Goose Leader waited for me to jump onto its back it then swam to the middle of the lake. Here I buried myself in the soft warm feathers and slept better than I have ever slept in my own bed. The days flew past and it was time for the Geese to fly back to the United Kingdom. The flight back was I think much faster than the flight to North Africa. The Geese Leader flew right to my back garden and as I stepped off its back I regained my full height. Waving goodbye to my Geese Leader I watched as she gained height and disappeared into the distance.

My House Bogie had looked after my house well in my absence the Fairies had even fed my House Bogie. My first move was to switch on the computer and sit down to write this little tale while it is still fresh in my memory. Later I was able to give a detailed report to Her Majesty as to how I had enjoyed not only the flight but my stay in Morocco. I have a lovely Suntan and many people asked me whether I had been abroad as I was so brown. Bern.
