Rabbits Galore.

Rabbits Galore.

The Rabbit population is getting out of hand on Dartford Heath. This normally would not affect the Fairies in any way but word has gotten around that the Rabbits are eating their way across the Heath and soon will be in Fairyland. Some cried, Danger! We must protect ourselves from the Rabbits others took no notice many thought no matter what happens Her Majesty will put things right in the end. The Fairies asked me what I would do to get rid of such a plague of Rabbits. My only answer to this rather silly question was to say, “get more Foxes into Fairyland.” They the Foxes would soon decimate the Rabbits. The next question I should have been prepared for. Where will we get more Foxes? Now I gave a silly answer, Advertise for more Foxes in the Newspapers. Fairies when they get some notion in their heads will usually find a way to get things to turn out in their own way not thinking that no Fox would read a newspaper anyway.

Many a newspaper editor received on this day dozens of calls from Fairies asking them to put an advert in the paper for more Foxes to live on the Heath. One editor went as far as to say that certain readers want foxes to be set free on Dartford Heath because of the Rabbit plague. The Rabbits did not ever reach Fairyland some fool had spread the rumour that the rabbits were dangerous. Rabbit’s can in no way be a danger to a Fairy. If they the Fairies had only stopped to think before crying out danger there would have been no panic. No call for more Foxes and the day would have been just another peaceful day in Fairyland.

One Rabbit hoppled into Fairyland, there was such an outcry the Rabbits are attacking us we have to defend ourselves. Out came magic wands and sparks shot from bush to bush, from tree to tree, in fact anything they thought they saw moving was attacked with magic. Not one of the Fairies hit the Rabbit who by this time was thoroughly upset by so many magic sparks, something that he had never before seen in his young life. He turned and hoppled back to his Rabbit Patch as quickly as he could. Here he told all that would listen that the Fairies had all gone mad. Rabbits were not safe any more in Fairyland. Now this was sad news, as all Rabbits knew that the best salads were to be found in Fairyland. Salads with lush green tender leaves that Rabbits love to eat.

The elder Rabbits got together and decided that they under a white flag should go into Fairyland to settle whatever disagreement there were between the rabbits and the Fairies. The same thing here in Fairyland many were ashamed that they had been some of the first to cry danger on seeing just the one young Rabbit hoppling into Fairyland. They got together and decided to go to see the Rabbits under the cover of a white flag. As luck would have it the two parties met in the middle of what one could call no-mans land- The two parties met from the Fairies were pictures of friendship and fresh salads waiting for Rabbits in Fairyland. From the Rabbits came pictures of Fairies using their magic wands and golden sparks attacking the Rabbits. The young Rabbit had done a good job of telling how dangerous the Fairies were. Now both parties parted in peace and rabbits entered Fairyland with out any one calling danger. Fairies seldom use their magic wands outside of Fairyland so no cause was given to the Rabbits to get upset. As for the Foxes the newspapers did not bring any new Foxes to the district we still have the sly old Fox with his family and all is peaceful in Fairyland. Bern
