A New Hill.

A New Hill?

Something is very wrong in our street it must have happened overnight. I now live on a hill nothing else is wrong none of the other houses are damaged in any way this must be a very powerful magic to turn a normal flat street into a steep hill without damaging any of the houses. Fairyland is now on a hill or better a hill now runs through Fairyland. I decided to go into Fairyland to see if the Fairies knew anything about this our new hill. The Fairies were all very excited this new hill suited them well. A new playground something to slide down and the Fairies wanted the hill to stay. I wandered to the clearing where the old oak tree stands. It was strange at first to see that the clearing and even the old oak tree were standing as they have always been. Sitting myself down under the shade of the old oak I looked for the wise old owl if anyone knew anything about the hill it would be the owl.

The roots of the old oak had moved somehow and my root where I always sat was even more comfortable. A gentle slope made an even more desirable resting place. I did not have to wait long for the wise old owl she flew down and sat on a root opposite me. This is what she told me. Her Majesty Queen Feeanna and Mother Nature had met in the clearing to discuss Fairyland and what could be done to improve the lives of the Fairies. Both agreed that the Fairies should have a playground to play in after all they worked hard and many were dissatisfied with their free time after they had finished work. All Fairies love the outdoors and unless it was raining all had their favourite games. Some loved skipping others flew up to the tallest tree and spent their time reciting poetry. A small group told stories of make believe lands where Castles with pretty maidens waited on a most beautiful Princess. One Fairy told animal stories. The animal stories were often listened to by the wild animals that often stopped what they were doing to listen to the Fairy storyteller. Another Fairy gave lessons on how to embroider the wild flowers onto silk this was very popular but all felt that something was missing. Now that we had a steep hill in Fairyland I was asked what could be done to use the hill as a playground. One idea was that instead of using their wings the Fairies should have races to see who climb the hill the fastest. Another idea of mine was that I should get sheets of cardboard that the Fairies could wax with candles that I provided. With this waxed cardboard they could have races as to see who could slide down the hill the quickest.

Strangely enough none of the humans that lived on the Heath noticed the new hill. Later I was to hear from Her Majesty Queen Feeanna that all the humans were in their sleep hypnotised and all remembered the Heath as having a hill. Only myself it was decided did not need hypnotising as I knew all about Fairies and magic and I would accept things as they were. Bern
