Bad Weather.

Fairies must not get their gossamer wings wet If they do the wet wins will not support them and they cannot fly. April was a bad month it rained and rained on and off proper April showers. May is also a very wet month weather wise The Fairies are fed up. Myself well the rain saves me from watering my gardens both back and front. I feel sorry for the Fairies and decided to help them. I went into town and bought two-dozen umbrellas. I got them fairly cheaply because I bought so many. No one asked me why I needed the umbrellas and the Fairies were tickled pink at having an umbrella to keep them dry whilst working.

The next thing was unexpected both the Pixies and the Trolls also wanted umbrellas. I dug into my savings and went once again into town. The shop where I had bought the umbrellas for the Fairies was completely out of umbrellas. I asked if they could order four-dozen new umbrellas for me. They must have thought I was not quite right in the head, “You really want four-dozen umbrellas may we ask why you want so many?” I could not of course tell them about the Pixies and the Trolls they would have laughed at me at my age buying umbrellas for the little people.

A week later I went into town again and paid for four-dozen umbrellas. I will not tell you how much I paid for them or you too might think that I am round the bend. Taking the umbrellas with me into the clearing by the old oak tree I split the umbrellas into two piles of twenty-four. As I gave the Pixies their umbrellas I told them they would have to share them with one another. They were not too happy at the idea of sharing but I told them there are no more umbrellas to be bought in town. The Pixies were different they were willing to share umbrellas but only with members of their own families. For myself I took a large piece of canvass and spread it over the lower branches of the old oak tree. I could now sit and watch the antics of the Fairies working with the encumbrance of having to hold their umbrellas. Fairly difficult going for the hard working Fairies, as they had to have one hand free for using their Fairy Wands. The Pixies only used their umbrellas when the wind blew so strongly that it turned the umbrellas inside out this was a new way of using what was supposed to protect them from the rain.

The Trolls were having the time of their lives using the umbrellas to poke the unwary one that was not expecting to be prodded with the point of the umbrella. Soon the Trolls and the Pixies got fed up with their new playthings and most of them threw their new umbrellas away. The Fairies collected all of the thrown away umbrellas and put them to good use when the rains poured down. Happily June was a month of Sunshine and no one needed an umbrella. Bern
