The Liar.

The Liar.

In Fairyland no one is speaking to each other all fairies have sworn not to speak until the Liar has been found. When I heard this news I became very nosey now who was it that went around telling lies. Some of the lies were very close to the truth and that is what was causing the Fairies so much concern. I found myself wishing for the buckle that my Leprechaun friend had fastened to his green hat. Shamus’s buckle if placed on a liar or held in a liar’s hand he or she must tell the truth. I could easily have found the liar with the help of this buckle but alas Shamus had taken his buckle with him as he went on his last journey.

I now had a problem how does one find out whether someone is lying or not. Some people when telling a lie have a twitching nose or they rub their ears or make some other movement that gives them away some even go quite red in the face others grin as if they had nothing to hide. This liar does none of these things he or she spreads lies around that many believe them to be the truth; until they find out that they have been lied to.

I asked the birds to be on the look out for this notorious liar also the wild animals. it is surprising what the wild animals pick up on their way to find food. Later in desperation I even asked the insects to look for the liar that was spreading so many lies in Fairyland. Over a whole month I had no success I could not find out who was spreading the lies. I now took to listening with my new hearing aids. I thought that if my hearing was so much better I too could hear the lies that were being spread around Fairyland.

Now with my new hearing aids I not only heard much better but I found that I could hear things that came down on the fresh breezes. Listening to the breezes from my place under the old oak tree. I heard the first lie. The breeze whispered that it was Mr. Shaw that was the liar. He was deliberately trying to upset Fairyland so that he could take over and become King of Fairyland. Now I was on my guard I looked to find out who was whispering to the breezes and spreading the lies around. With my new hearing aids I followed the breezes until I came to a place that someone had built a huge trumpet in. Hiding myself I waited to see who it was that whispered into the trumpet that carried the lies on the breezes going through Fairyland.

I recognised the person straight away; I have had bad dealings with him before. It was Mordecai an old wizard that wanted to take over Fairyland himself. I waited until he whispered into the trumpet then I dodged from tree to tree until I was right behind him. Taking a handful of magic dust from my pocket I threw it over him. His voice stopped its whispering and he stood there as stiff as a tree trunk. My next move was to take my magic wand from my sleeve and wave it at Mordecai. I said in the old Fairy language the words that turned him into a breeze. I then blew the breeze into the trumpet and wondered where he would end up. I thought that, that was a fitting punishment for such a wicked wizard. Bern
